It seems only yesterday
we were made to fear
the dangerous zealots
who misshaped their faith
to justify heavenly terror
that changed our lives
in one day.
Now, with upside-down
Bibles in hand and
a fool's read
of a different scripture,
our leaders lick their lips
at the prospect of blood
and charge into battle
blazing a path for their
version of Jesus
and clownishly claim
as all the others before
that this time
God is pleased.
